A beast to set up / no notifications

I ditto everyone else who had a hard time setting this up. To have to pay for an app that isnt user friendly and doesnt give notifications seems odd. Ive never paid for an app before. Like literally. It should at least be free to the family you invite to send messages. And where are the notifications? I cant check this app daily to see if someone sent a message.
